The Federal Budget announced new funding to support the implementation of onsite pharmacists within every RACF from 1st January 2023. Many questions remain to be answered regarding this model, not least where the pharmacist workforce will come from and how they will be trained & prepared for the aged care sector.
The QCAA comprises several Foundation Members who have the industry expertise and embedded pharmacist model experience to support the concept’s implementation. Our foundation members represent contracted pharmacy services (supply and clinical) providing coal-face impact to 70,000 residential beds. We will be strongly advocating for an embedded pharmacist model that meets the needs of our client care providers and their residents. When it comes to the emerging onsite aged care pharmacist service, the QCAA will be the industry’s “Partners in Quality Care”.
